26 JANURAY (REPUBLIC DAY)
Republic Day is a public holiday in India where the country marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950. This replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India, thus turning the nation into a republic separate from British Raj
On January 26, 1950, the country was fully declared a republic. Republic Day is also celebrated on January 26, because on this day in the year 1930, the Indian National Congress declared the country to be completely independent.
Happy Republic Day 2022: Republic Day is celebrated with great fanfare across the country every year on January 26, because the Constitution of India was implemented on January 26, 1950, at 10.18 am. On this day, a parade is held on the Rajpath in the country's capital Delhi along with the organization of various programs.
Every year 26 January is celebrated as Republic Day in India, because from this day the Constitution came into force in India. India got independence on August 15, 1947, after suffering the slavery of the British for years and about three years later, the constitution was implemented in the country.
The Constitution of India is the largest written constitution in the world, on the basis of which the country is called the largest republic.
Name of india
The Republic
of India has
two principal short names, each of which
is historically significant, "India" and "Bharata". A third
name, "Hindustan", is sometimes an alternative name for the region
comprising most of the modern India state of the Indian Subcontinent when Indians
speak among themselves. The usage of "Bhārat", "Hindustan",
or "India" depends on the context and language of conversation.
Mahatma Gandhi is often referred to as the "Father of India" as he played a key role in India's struggle for independence from British colonial rule. He advocated for non-violent civil disobedience and was a major leader in the Indian independence movement.
Author of republic day
The Constitution of India, which was adopted on January 26,
1950, and came into effect on the same day, making India a republic, was not
written by a single individual. It was the product of the efforts of a
constituent assembly, which was formed in 1946 to write the Constitution of
India.
The drafting of the Indian Constitution was done by a
drafting committee, which was appointed by the Constituent Assembly on August
29, 1947. The drafting committee was headed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and had other
members such as Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar, N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar, Mahavir
Tyagi, and B. L. Mitter.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is considered as the chief architect of
the Indian Constitution. He played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution
and was instrumental in shaping the document. He was the chairman of the
drafting committee and is credited for bringing in progressive ideas in the
Constitution and ensuring the rights of the marginalized sections of society.

26 January and 15 August
Many people get
confused between Independence Day and Republic Day, but do you know there is
also a difference in the way the flag is hoisted on 15th August and 26th
January?
15 August, Independence Day is celebrated across the
country. At the same time, Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January to
commemorate the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India.
In India, the National Flag is hoisted on these two special days. But there is
a difference between hoisting the flag on Independence Day and Republic Day.
First
difference
On the occasion of 15th August — the Independence Day, the
flag is pulled up by a rope from below, then it is opened and hoisted. This is
done to honor the historical event of 15 August 1947. In the constitution, it
is called Flag Hoisting. On the other hand, on the occasion of 26
January — Republic Day, the flag remains tied at the top, which is then
opened and hoisted. In the constitution, it is called Flag Unfurling.
Second difference
On August 15, the Prime
Minister (who is the head of the Central Government) hoists the flag, because
the Constitution of India did not come into force on the day India got
independence. The President (who is the constitutional head of the nation), did
not take office till then. On the other hand, on Republic Day the President
addresses the nation. 26 January is celebrated to commemorate the
implementation of the Constitution in the country. On this day, the
constitutional head hoists or the President hoists the flag.
Third difference
The flag hoisting is done from the Red Fort on Independence Day. At the
same time, the flag is unflured on the Rajpath on Republic Day.
As India gears up to celebrate
the 75th anniversary of Independence, the central government has kickstarted a
campaign called Har Ghar Tiranga to invoke the feeling of patriotism in all
citizens. The campaign is part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Prime
The Republic Day of India is celebrated on January 26th each year to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950, which officially made India a republic. The main celebration takes place in the capital city of New Delhi, where a grand parade is held at Rajpath featuring a display of India's cultural and military heritage. The President of India also delivers the "Address to the Nation" on this day. The day is also marked by patriotic songs, speeches, and cultural programs across the country. The celebration concludes with a 21-gun salute and the national flag being lowered at sunset, bringing an end to the day's events.
